Recently I upgraded my PC to windows 10 by performing a clean installation of Windows via an bootable USB drive. While the installation process went smoothly, it was not late until I encountered the first bug in the operating system.
The bug was related to the new photo viewer app that comes bundled in Windows 10. Whenever I tried to open any photo, the photo viewer app would open a black screen and display “ The remote procedure call failed “ error. I tried looking for a quick fix to this error, but there wasn’t any working fix for this error. Adding to that there isn’t any other photo viewer app on windows 10 that can used to open photos.
Fortunately, I found out that the photo viewer from Windows 7 can be enabled in Windows 10. As my final resort I went ahead and enabled the windows photo viewer app in Windows a10 and set it as my default photo viewer app on windows 10. Now I am able to view photo on windows 10 and this is good for me until I fix the default photo viewer app.

- Step 2: Now right click on any photo and select Open with > Choose another app.
- Step 3: Select Windows photo viewer and then check the “ Always use the app to open .jpg files “ option.
There you go, you can now open photos on Windows 10 with the photo viewer app from windows 7.
