For many of us, text messages are still the most reliable method of sending and receiving messages. It’s the only methods that guarantees the successful delivery of our messages as long as there is network connectivity.
Unfortunately, spammers have been taking advantage of this in order to boost their shady business. Unlike your email inbox , you cannot stop or block spam text messages with the default messenger app that comes built in your Android phone. However there are many third party apps that can help you to block or stop messages permanently. One of these apps is TrueMessenger, an app made by the developers of the popular spam call blocker and caller identity app Truecaller.
I am sure many of you would have already used Truecaller and known how good the app is. Keeping on with its legacy of blocking spam, the developers at True software have released TrueMessenger now to help us block and stop spam text messages.
Just like its sister app Truecaller, TrueMessenger also uses crowdsourcing of information to build its database of spam text senders. If the text sender’s information present in its database, it will provide the sender details such as name and place. The core feature of the TrueMessenger app help you to identify the sender of the text messages and block them. Once you’ve blocked a spam message from a certain phone number, all further text messages from the same number would be automatically blocked. As TrueMessenger relies heavily on its database of spammers, it will automatically block spam text messages if the sender is already listed in its spam database.
How to Block Spam Text Messages on your Android Phone.
Now that you know about this useful new app. Here’s how you can use TrueMessener to block and stop Spam text messages.
- Step 1: Download and Install the TrueMessenger app from the download link provided at the bottom of this article.
- Step 2: Tap on OK to make TrueMessener as your default SMS app.
- Step 3: Once you get into the message inbox, select a Spam text message.
Note: As you can see in the above screenshot, there are two tabs at the bottom. All the regular text messages can be viewed from the inbox tab, whereas the Spam tab will store all the spam text messages.
- Step 4: Tap on Mark as Spam to block further spam messages from the sender.
In the next window, you can choose to alert your friends about the sender. If you tap on Warn Others, you can send a message to your friends via social networks.
That’s it, the number that you just blocked will be added to trueMessenger’s spam database and all further messages from the number will be automatically blocked.
