Most of us created our Gmail accounts when we were new to the web and we were just teenagers who were fascinated by the internet. Back then all we wanted was a unique and cool sounding email addresses that we could share with our friends. Thinking about all that might feel embarrassing, but this has happened with most us and there’s nothing embarrassing with this.
Little did we know how important our Gmail address would become some 10 -20 years later. This came as a realization when most of us had to submit our email address for official use, such as providing them to school authorities or applying for an job.
Definitely creating a new email address would have been your only option and so it was for me. Now for those who don’t want to use their old email addresses which you created in your 10th grade, here’s how you can delete your Gmail account permanently.
Method 1: How to delete only your Gmail account permanently.
Note: In this method you are only going to delete your Gmail account and other products related to your google account such as YouTube and Google plus would not be deleted. if you want to delete all products related to your google account, follow the instructions provided in method 2. Also make sure you have created another Google account as you are going to transfer the ownership of other google products related with your current account to your new Google account.
- Step 1: Log into your mail account, Click on your Profile picture and select Account. ( Alternatively you can also click on this link )
- Step 2: Scroll down to the bottom and select Delete Products and Data under Account Management.
- Step 3: Enter your Gmail password to verify yourself.
- Step 4: You can now see a list of Google products. Click on Remove Gmail Permanently.
- Step 5: Select the box to confirm that you’re agree to delete your Gmail account permanently. Enter the new Gmail account to which the ownership of other google products related to your current email account are going to be transferred. Finally click on Remove Gmail to delete your Gmail account.
Method 2: How to delete your Google account and other Google products related to it.
- Step 1: Log into your mail account, Click on your Profile picture and select Account. ( Alternatively you can also click on this link )
- Step 2: Scroll down to the bottom and select Delete Google Account and Data under the Account Management section.
- Step 3: Enter your Gmail password to verify yourself.
- Step 4: You can now see a list of all the products related to your google account which are also going to be deleted.
- Step 5: Select the two check-boxes to agree with the conditions and click on Delete Account to delete your Google account along with all the products related to it.
