After installing the latest Android 5.0 lollipop update on my smartphone, i found out that Chrome for Android has now merged its tabs with Android’s recent app list. Being a long time user, i was very much comfortable with switching the tabs from the chrome itself. Upon doing some research i found out that this feature is only limited to Android 5.0 lollipop.
This is something that i didn’t like personally as i generally open more than twenty to fifteen tabs at once and with this new feature, i was having a hard time find my tabs. For those of you who feel the same, here’s how you can disable this new feature in Chrome for Android 5.0 lollipop.
Fortunately Google has provided an option to opt out of this feature within chrome’s settings. Follow the instructions below to disable the tab merge feature in chrome for android 5.0 lollipop and go back to the old combined chrome entry in KitKat and previous builds.
How to Turn off the Merge Tabs and Apps feature on Chrome for Android
- Step 1: Go to Chrome for Android’s Settings.
- Step 2: Tap on Merge tabs and apps.
- Step 3: Turn off the Merge tabs and apps feature by setting the slider to Off.
There you go, now the tabs will appear within chrome itself. If you ever need to enable the merge tabs and apps feature, you can go back and set the slider to On.
