Overheating is a common problem with most Android devices as the current generation of mobile processors dissipate a lot of heat. Generally your phone would not heat up when running idle, however if it does overheat in idle condition, then it is definitely the result of an android app running in the background.
While we can feel our phones getting overheated, we can’t be certain what their temperature is. This is where we will need to take help from an android app to find out our phone’s exact temperature.
There are more than a dozen apps on the google play store that can help you with monitoring out the temperature of your Android phone’s CPU. The app I will recommend you to use is CPU Temperature. The major reason why i am recommending this apps is: it allows you to monitor the temperature of your android phone with a draggable temperature overlay. This feature makes this app very useful as you don’t have to open the app every time you need to view your phone’s CPU temperature. Instead you can just drag the CPU temperature overlay anywhere on the screen and monitor your phone’s live CPU temperature.
Now that you know about this interesting feature of the CPU temperature app. Here’s how you can use it to monitor the live temperature of Android phone’s CPU.
How to Monitor the CPU Temperature on Android
- Step 1: Download and install CPU temperature on your Android phone from the download link provided at the bottom of this page.
- Step 2: Open CPU temperature and you can view your Android phone’s CPU temperature.
- Step 3: Tap on the Settings tab and enable the CPU Temp Overlay.
- Step 4: You can now see a temperature reading on your phone’s screen, drag it to any location and if you want it to become fixed, turn off the Overlay draggable option.
That’s it, you can now see your Android phone’s live CPU temperature regardless of what app you’re using.

On my GS7 Edge, CPU Temperature said that it cannot monitor the CPU Temp on my phone.
This app does not regulate android box temperature correctly. My A.B. (android box) has it’s own internal temp detector and after downloading the recommended app on this page. I compared it with the CPU regulator and it’s totally different and simply wrong. It gave me readings of 145 degrees and I know that to be completely wrong because when felling the bottom and top of my A.B., it didn’t feel hot at all and this is just for using the A.B. for 15 minutes. The app does not read correctly. I compared with other CPU temp monitors and this one is the worst.
