With the Official announcement of the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9, Google has finally put an end to all the speculations regarding the much awaited next gen. Nexus devices.
The next generation of Nexus devices are here and they bring in many things such as new hardware and software. Likes the previous generation of Nexus devices, the Nexus 6 and Nexus 7 are also debuting exclusively with the latest version of Android, which as we all know is Android Lollipop.
The New Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 are relatively bigger than their older siblings and as expected they have got the latest and the top of the line hardware as well. The Nexus 6 was developed by Motorola whereas the Nexus 9 was developed by HTC.
The Google Nexus 6 is sporting a 6 inch Quad HD display which has a display resolution of 1440×2560 pixels ( 493 ppi ) and is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The smartphone runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor which is clocked at 2.7 GHZ and is coupled with an Adreno 420 GPU and 3GB of RAM.
There’s a 13 MP rear facing camera with a f/2.0 aperture, dual led ring flash, autofocus and optical image stabilization along with a 2 MP camera on the front. The smartphone will be available in two variants of 32Gb and 64GB capacity with an option to choose between midnight blue and cloud white colors.
Similarly, the Nexus 9 is sporting a 8.9 inch display which has a resolution of 2048×1536 pixels. The tablet is powered by a 64-bit NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor and is coupled with a Kepler GPU and 2GB of RAM. The tablet has a 8MP rear facing camera with a f/2.4 aperture, autofocus and a single LED flash along with a 1.6MP front facing camera. The tablet will be available in two variants of 16GB and 32GB with an option to choose between indigo black, lunar white and sand colors. Both the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 will debut with Android Lollipop.
Unfortunately, Google is still betting high on cloud storage, which is why any of its Nexus devices are yet to feature an option for expandable storage via micro sd cards.
The pricing for both the nexus devices are relatively higher than their previous siblings as by all means the new Nexus devices are not built for budget conscious customers. The Nexus 6 will retail at an price of $649 whereas the Nexus 9 will retail at an price of $399. The Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 will be available for pre order by October 29 and OCtober 17 respectively. In all, Nexus 6 will come to 28 countries across Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America starting later this year.
Note: Although it is not confirmed, the Google Nexus 6 is expected to be priced at Rs, 42,999 in India for the 32Gb variant.
