Worlds’s Fastest Internet Connection can Transmit 43Tbps of Data over a Single Optical Fiber

the new highest internet speed in the world is 43 tbps

While most of us are crawling the internet with a Megabit internet connection which has ridiculous bandwidth caps, somewhere on the planet a person is trying to download the whole internet with his new internet connection that theoretically provides a download speed of 43Tbps.

Well, I’m just kidding about the whole downloading the internet thing but the later part is absolutely true. It might seem unbelievable but this have been practically made possible by a team of researchers at the Technical University of Denmark by only using a single laser transmitter over a optical fiber. This was the second time these danish researchers were able to accomplish such an achievement and previously they were also the first ones to break the one terabit barrier in 2009.

To make it simpler for understanding, 43Tbps equals to 5.4 TBps or 5,375 GBps. Which is nearly 1000 times faster than Google Fiber that currently provides a maximum download bandwidth of 1000mbits/second.

With 43Tbps of bandwidth at your disposal you can easily download a 1GB movie in just 0.2 milliseconds, however we still don’t have a consumer data storage medium that can write data at such a high speed and also a consumer PC wont be able to handle this much speed. So even if we have a 43Tbps internet connection, we won’t be able to make full use of it.

Living in India, where to the government considers any internet connection with a download speed of more than 512 Kbps as a broadband connection, we feel utterly depraved of the basic right to at least have a decent internet connection. Although India is considered as an growing IT hub, we are still living in era where we would be very happy to have at least a decent 1Mbps unlimited internet connection.
