The Ubuntu Edge is the next generation of personal computing: smartphone and desktop PC in one state-of-the-art device. It’s a smartphone which runs on both Ubuntu Mobile OS and android and has the capability to replace your desktop .
The Ubuntu Edge is now in a prototype stage . This beautifully crafted smartphone can convert into a full fledged Desktop PC just by plugging the device into any monitor . Once the device is connected to a monitor the Ubuntu Edge transforms into an Ubuntu PC, with a fully integrated desktop OS and shared access to all files .
Perhaps we can best name the device as a superphone , a new breed of hybrid smartphones in the making .
Hardware
The Ubuntu Edge 4.5 Inch(1280*720p) HD display , protected by pure sapphire crystal , a material so hard only a diamond could scratch it . The smartphone will have a 8MP low-light rear facing camera for taking videos and pictures and a 2MP front faced camera for video calling an other functions .
The device is in a prototype stage and is taking the support of crowd funding through Indiegogo.com to fund the production of the device . At this point of time the hardware of the smartphone is not fixed . Ubuntu has decided to go with the fastest available multi-core processor with 4GB of RAM and a massive 128GB SSD storage for delivering the best performance possible . The Ubuntu Edge will be powered by a battery based on silicon-anode technology .
Connectivity
For connectivity the Ubuntu edge will come with a HDMI outpoot to hook onto HDMI enabled Monitors . The smartphone will have a dual-LTE chip to provide fastest 4G access even on the move . It will also have support for dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4, NFC .

The Ubuntu Edge has a beautiful home screen . You can navigate by swiping over the edge of the screen . Favorite apps can be opened on the left edge . The device does not has use of any buttons .
