Gone are the days when Apple didn’t allow tethering on its iPhones. Apple has been constantly listening to its customers and the customer response has made apple to add new features on its iPhones.
Today you don’t need to jailbreak your iPhone in order to tether its 2G / 3G / 4G internet connection with another device. iPhones now come with an inbuilt feature to share their internet connection via WiFi hotspots.
This feature can come very handy when you are in a place with no WiFi connectivity. And as cell phone coverage is almost available everywhere, you can instantly turn on the WiFi hotspot on your iPhone and share its internet connection to other devices such as your laptop.
However, you should tether your iPhone’s internet connection only if you have an unlimited data subscription. Otherwise you might end up with a huge bill. Here’s how you can share your iPhone’s 2G / 3G / 4G data connection with other devices by creating a WiFi Hotspot.
How to Share your iPhone’s Internet with other Devices via WiFi
- Step 1: Go to the Settings on your iPhone and tap on Personal Hotspot.
- Step 2: Tap on the WiFi password to change the WiFi hotspot’s password.
- Step 3: Turn on the personal hotspot by tapping on the button beside it.
- Step 4: You will now be prompted whether you want to share your phone’s internet via WiFi or USB. Select Turn on WiFi and Bluetooth. ( This option will appear only if WiFi is not turned on beforehand. ) . Alternatively you can even select USB in order to share your iPhone’s Internet connection with another device via USB tethering.
There you go, you can now search for the WiFi hotspot on your laptop or any other WiFi enabled device. Click on the hotspot and enter the password to connect with it.
